Escapism Walls

February, 2023

"Walls" is an explorative digital art project that delves into themes of social media's repetitive nature and the lack of authenticity in user-generated content, especially on platforms like TikTok. The project uses AI-generated images as textures on four-sided walls within a Blender animation to symbolize a world trapped within itself. The animation features walls that disappear and reappear based on camera movement, emphasizing the illusion of freedom within the digital space.

The final installation at the Bargehouse gallery included projected 3D animations with a mix of trending TikTok sounds, creating an immersive experience. The double-sided projection screen made of geo-textile fabric allowed both front and rear projections, while wooden stands provided structural integrity. This setup contrasted the digital visuals with tangible materials, reminding viewers of the boundary between digital and physical realities.

Mediums Used:
  • AI Image Generation (RunwayML, StabilityAI)
  • 3D Modeling and Animation (Blender)
  • Projection Mapping and Audio Integration

Exhibition:
Displayed at the Bargehouse gallery, working with back projection, the installation featured projected animations that engaged viewers in a sensory exploration of digital confinement versus real-world presence.

Later expanded the project with another layer of genrative AI, applying img-2-img tools to convert each frame of the Blender animation into AI visuals.
